About Heather
Heather M. Anderson is a Nurse Practitioner at the Comprehensive Breast Center of Arizona. She graduated from North Carolina State University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology and a minor in Microbiology. In 2004, she earned her Associate of Science in Nursing in Northern Virginia. After working as a Registered Nurse for eight years, Heather completed a Master of Science in Nursing. She holds several certificates and licenses, including as a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner, an Advanced Oncology/Hematology Nurse Practitioner, and an Advanced Practice Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner.
Prior to joining the Comprehensive Breast Center of Arizona, Heather worked for eight years at the Arizona Center for Cancer Care in medical oncology, where she had a special interest in working with breast cancer patients and cancer survivorship. She has lectured to local oncology providers and organizations on the topic of breast cancer survivorship.
Heather incorporates survivorship into her daily clinical practice by working to coordinate care for her patients, managing any existing or potential late effects of cancer therapy and assisting breast cancer survivors in the transition from disease-focused treatment to wellness-focused care. Heather founded and leads a non-profit, fitness-focused, support program for female cancer survivors and caregivers, Gals on the Run AZ.
In her spare time, Heather trains for marathons and long-distance triathlons. Health, wellness, and nutrition are integral parts of her everyday life and form the foundation of her clinical practice. Heather also enjoys spending time in Montana with her husband Chad and their two dogs.
